Donate Time
Our most valuable resource at this school is you! We need volunteers throughout the year to help with events, planning, decorating, and fundraising. For the most up-to-date information, you can attend our regular monthly meetings held the third Tuesday of the month at school, right after school starts (9:10am). They tend to go over an hour, so if you have a small child, be prepared to either bring something to keep them entertained, or get a babysitter. We also post regularly on Facebook, in the group “Cummings Valley School Parent-Teacher Organization”. You can receive emailed minutes and updates. We send home quarterly newsletters.
We also could use your skills! Bakers, photographers, videographers, accountants, graphic artists, athletes, and grant-writers can all find a useful role helping us!
Start by attending a volunteer training and follow the steps to volunteer at the school. You can find the next training date at the school website http://cve.teh.k12.ca.us
Check the VolunteerSpot link for opportunities to volunteer for upcoming events.
Donate Resources
There are several items that would make things easier for us during events that we need to purchase. But if you have something in good condition to donate we will take it.
Donate Money
Throughout the year, we try and raise funds to keep supporting the school at the levels we have come to appreciate. Sometimes it is as easy as shopping at stores you already shop at! We also can accept flat donations.

The following information has been sent home with each student.
Cummings Valley School PTO
Annual/ Membership Donation Drive
2016-2017
We are a non-profit organization that works together with parents, teachers, and our principal, to provide funding for programs, events, and supplies for the students of CVS.As a PTO member, we are asking for a donation from each family to kick-start our year. You may think that a small contribution doesn’t make much of a difference. But working together as a team, we can make HUGE differences for our students. In order to maintain our current budget and funding, we will be working on fundraisers (big and small) all year long to earn $50 per student. Even a donation of $5 would give us a good head start.
This year we will use money raised to pay for Red Ribbon Week (a drug awareness campaign), a playground program called “Caught Being Good”, our school-wide music program, current event reading materials, PE and Recess equipment, SMART board supplies, classroom emergency supplies, educational assemblies, staff appreciation, STEM and after school programs, our new Elf Out Post, and5thgrade good-bye. We collect Box Tops to help reimburse teachers for some of their classroom expenses. It is the job of PTO Board members to assure that all of your participation in fundraisers comes back to all of the kids in some way. That’s what the money is needed for, and it goes where we think it’s needed most. We make sure we communicate where money goes as much as we can. As incentive this year, the first 250 people to donate $5.00 or more will receive a Cougar Proud keychain!
If you are unable to donate at this time, please fill out the requested information so we can give you information about PTO and school events.
You can check our website www.cummingsvalleypto.weebly.com for other fundraising opportunities or ways to help throughout the year.
You can contact us at [email protected] for comments, suggestions, or questions.
You can also join our Facebook group, “Cummings Valley School Parent-Teacher Organization” for the latest information.
We will send out quarterly newsletters. You are welcome to attend our regular PTO meetings, held the third Tuesday of every month at 9:30a.m., or our General Meetings held twice a year, January and May.
Cummings Valley School PTO Volunteer Round-Up We realize that at CVS, we have a more valuable resource than money can buy: our parent volunteers.
You can make all the difference in how smoothly a project or a day goes for a teacher or a PTO event. It doesn’t have to be a year-long commitment.
Even an hour can make a difference. These are not set-in-stone commitments. We will call you when we need you to see if your schedule still permits helping at that time.
COMMITTEES are the planners; VOLUNTEERS work at the actual event. Usually if you are part of a committee, you will volunteer for the event as well. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and be connected to the school and classroom environment. It takes a village!
Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help with class parties, field trips, or working in the classroom. Please mark any area of interest.
AT HOME SUPPORT: If you can only help from home and can help with putting together packets, stapling, or gluing. (several times throughout the year)

SNOWBALL GRAMS: Cashiers are needed during the lunch hours (11:30-1:30). Snowball grams are cards the students can send to their friends. (December)
FAMILY DANCE: Fun Family Event! This team coordinates and plans theme dance. Includes decorating cafeteria, promoting, running stations, sell tickets. It’s like throwing a big party! (February)
Elf Outpost: This is our newest addition! Give students the opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts. We need inventory shoppers, decorators, and lots of volunteers to make this run smoothly. (December)
5K and FITNESS DAY: Join a team working on sponsorship, shirt design, fundraising materials, scheduling volunteers, Fitness Day station planning, or prizes for drawings. (Mar-May)
